Where To Begin
We usually select the client's work at whatever stage he or she is at with their manuscript. Our procedure is divided into two stages:
- Preliminary Services
- Press Services(Printing)
Preliminary services are the steps we take to prepare a raw manuscript for printing. While these services are highly recommended to improve the book's quality and aesthetic, they are also optional; a client may choose to go straight to printing. The services are explained in detail below;
Preliminary Services
a) Transcription
Transcription is the process of converting spoken words, video or audio recordings into written text. This stage is usually included when a client seeks to have their manuscript developed from audio or video content.
Transcription involves transforming the recorded audio or video delivered by a speaker into a written format. Our skilled transcribers listen to the audio recordings carefully and transcribe the spoken content into a written manuscript. This service ensures that a speaker's spoken words are accurately captured and prepared for further editing and refinement.
Pricing - Ksh 30 per Minute of Audio / Video
b) Content Development
Content development is a crucial step in transforming a raw manuscript into a polished and well - structured book. In the case of publishing a book based on audio or video, content development involves enhancing and refining the transcribed material to create a coherent and engaging narrative. This process may include reorganizing the content, adding additional explanations or context, expanding on key points, and ensuring the overall flow and readability of the book.
Content development also involves shaping the material to fit the intended target audience, ensuring that the language, tone, and style of the book align with the author's vision and goals. It aims to elevate the overall quality and impact of the book, making it more compelling, insightful, and relatable to readers.
By offering transcription and content development services, Excellencess Publishers, assists authors or speakers in transforming their spoken word into a professionally written and well - developed manuscript, preparing it for further editing, proofreading, and ultimately, publishing.

c) Proofreading and Editing
This stage is only applicable when clients provide a complete manuscript. For manuscripts developed in the previous two stages, proofreading & editing is usually taken care of, unless a client requests further editing.
Editing is a comprehensive process that involves improving the overall quality of the text. This can include correcting errors, but also involves making suggestions to improve clarity, flow, and structure, as well as checking for consistency and accuracy. Editing is a more in - depth and involved process than proofreading and is typically done earlier in the writing process.
Proofreading on the other hand is the final step in the editing process and involves carefully reviewing text for surface errors, such as typos, grammatical mistakes, and punctuation errors.
The goal of proofreading is to ensure the text is free of errors and ready for publication.

d) Book Formating
Book formating is the process of arranging the text, images, and other design elements on the pages of a book. It involves determining the size, margins, and column width of the pages, as well as deciding on the typeface, font size, and other typographical details. Our editorial designers also arrange headings, subheadings, and any other elements to ensure that the book has a clear and consistent visual structure. This is a critical step in the production of a book, as it affects the readability and overall aesthetic of the final product.

For books of upto 180 pages
e) Book Cover Design
The book cover design stage in our publishing process involves creating the visual concept and design of the book's cover. This includes choosing the colors, images, typography, and other design elements that will be used to create an appealing and eye - catching cover that represents the book's content and genre. The cover design should also clearly convey the book's title and author and may also include additional information such as a tagline or the publisher's information.
Our cover design service encompasses the creation of three (3) distinct cover designs. These designs are crafted either based on the content of your book or following specific directions given by you, the author. Once these designs are complete, you will have the opportunity to choose one that resonates most with your vision. We then refine and enhance your chosen design to achieve the final look of the book. The cost of this service includes up to two rounds of edits. Please note that any additional covers or edits beyond this will incur separate charges.

f) ISBN Installation
ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number, which is a unique identifier assigned to books and other print publications. It is a 13 - digit number that helps booksellers, libraries, and other organizations to manage and track books, especially when ordering and selling them.
Having an ISBN also helps increase a book's visibility and discoverability, as it allows the book to be listed in databases and catalogs used by booksellers and libraries. In Kenya, ISBN numbers are allocated to authors by the Kenya National Library Services(KNLS). At Excellencess Publishers, we assign our pre - acquired ISBNs to an author who choses to publish their book with us. However, an author is free to apply for their ISBN with the KNLSs directly.

For books of all sizes
At the end of this stage, we send the client 2 dummy copies of their book. The purpose of this is to help the client:
- a) Review the work done and offer his or her suggestions or corrections.
- b) Have a feel of what the books will look like once printed
The client is then required to send the reviewed dummy back to us for a final review and correction. It is with this final version of the book that we are able to settle on final look and size of the book and give a printing quote.
g) Publishing on Amazon
Amazon Publishing is an additional optional service that is ideal for clients who want to sell their books to an international audience. Amazon Publishing is a self- publishing platform provided by Amazon that allows authors to publish their books and make them available for sale on Amazon's websites. At Excellencess Publishers, we assist authors in this process. We help convert a client's manuscript to fit Amazon's specifications & requirements for publishing on their platform. Our pricing for this service includes both ebook & paper versions.
